The widening of the narrow road connecting the IIMA Flyover with the Vastrapur Lake will be a relief for commuters.
This is a piece of good news for Amdavadis who, post zooming through the IIMA Flyover, had to literally crawl through the short (but when you're stuck in it, extremely long!) stretch between the foot of the flyover and the Vastrapur Lake. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has initiated a road widening project from the existing narrow 12 metres to a comfortable 21 metres. This will radically ease the traffic congestion at this narrow stretch and facilitate hassle-free traversing for commuters.
Credit goes to the shop owners whose business properties dotted both sides of this road as they readily agreed to the Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) option offered by AMC - an innovative facility by way of which they are issued TDR certificates enabling them to construct additional built-up area anywhere in the city. Passing through this area will no longer be a nightmare for families wishing to spend their leisure time at Vastrapur Lake and the swanky mall in the vicinity.
