The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) on
Friday issued notices to seven buildings whose fire safety systems were found
to be defunct in the first fire raid in the city post a series of awareness
meetings between fire officials and owners/chairmen/managers of high rises held
between August 22 and September 8.

Post the massive fire at the society on September 17,
Mirror had exposed the blatant lack of fire safety systems at all five
high-rises in the society. Taking the Mirror story into consideration, the fire
department raided the society and has asked them to make their fire systems
functional and then apply for afire safety NOC.
